This is my new electronic album.
The music combines instrumental jazz with electronic loops, hip-hop style beats and environmental samples, engulfing the listener in cinematic soundscapes propelled by relentless rhythms. The mood is often dark and introspective, with some weird surprises along the way.
The bizzare and brilliant artwork was done by James Fosdike from visualante
“This album will hopefully help elevate the saxophone to new realms of experimental electronic music possibilities.”

We’re gearing up for our next album release. It’ll be called Vicious Cycle and will be released mid 2010.
Here’s a recent review, published in the Australian in Sept. 2009
Launching their CD, Idle Hands do the Devil’s Work, these Melbourne musicians, all aged in their 20’s, have produced a unique style of contemporary jazz. Saxophonist and leader James Annesley’s fascinating variety of compositions give guitar, bass and drums an important role in solos and finely integrated ensemble work. Drums and bass constantly move and morph and the guitar positively soars. At times the music sounds almost rhythmically symphonic, pulses like rock fusion, or slides into an eastern modality, always expertly building tension, then often cutting quickly to tranquility as soprano sax floats over spreading chords.
