Bio

Virtual Proximity are a musical-visual outfit based in Melbourne, Australia. Their style could best be described as dark jazztronica, with influences including DJ Krush, Miles Davis, Four-Tet and Nils Petter Molvaer.

Their live show is entirely improvised, with live instrumentation, digital looping and spontaneous drum programming.  Abstract melodies are fused with driving beats and atmospheric textures, while the interactive visuals add an extra dimension of colour and movement, complementing the music with strange and wonderful imagery.

Virtual Proximity have been playing regularly around Melbourne since late 2010, as well as touring interstate, with shows in NSW, SA and ACT. They’ve appeared as part of Rainbow Serpent, Gertrude St. Projection Festival, Racket, Uncomfortable Beats and This Is Not Art.
